I wasn't happy with the card for UFC 138. There was very few big names and lots of English fighters. Yes, it was held in England, but I still wanted some champions, former champions, or plenty of people I recognised. It didn't have that, so I didn't go.

I think I made a mistake.

The main event was stopped due to Chris Leben not being able to see properly, and the fact that he was choking on his own blood (as he put it). It was an ugly fight, but ugly in a good way. Mark Munoz is now after the title, and why not. I can't see him beating Anderson Silva, but I can't see anyone beating Silva.

Terry Etim has just made a name for himself. He has strikes, he has submission skills, he has a very strong Scouse accent and now he has a 17 second victory via guillotine.

Antony Perosh didn't look very comfortable dealing with the massive height disadvantage against the French man Diabate, but in the second round he took him to the ground and submitted him. Diabate was doing a constant knee fake in the first round, which looked strange. If Joe Rogan hadn't explained it, I would have thought he had some nervous twitch going on, but now it all makes sense. Diabate is seriously lacking a ground game and won't go much further without one.

Thiago Alves looked like his good old self, choking out Papy Abedi. Abedi did catch Alves with a nice front kick and I thought that he was looking like the better fighter, working on grappling and counter fighting, but then he wobbled. It was one of those comedy wobbles from a fierce Alves right hook, a few seconds later and it was all over. I hope to see Abedi return though.

Pickett seemed to be just up against a bigger, stronger and better fighter in Renan Barao. Pickett was throwing wild swinging punches, whilst Barao landed strong precise shots. Pickett was knocked down, then Barao used lightning speed to jump on his back and submit him. Pickett held it off for a while, and didn't apply 2 hands on one, then it was all over. Pickett will have gone quite a distance down the ladder on that one, especially in a packed division, whereas Barao and his 27-1-1 record suggests he should be next in line for a title shot.

Chris Cope (Woooooooh) from The Ultimate Fighter was KO'd in 40 seconds against Che Mills. Che Mills looked real fast, plenty of good strikes and fantastic knees. The referee almost stopped the fight too early, which would have caused some controversy, but thankfully let it continue. Mills then continued the assault and finished of Chris Cope.

The card was weak in terms of big names, but it was one hell of an exciting night. Plenty of KOs and submissions. The crowd were fantastic and really appreciative of the UFC visiting England again. With the crowd as pumped up as it was, the UFC will keep coming back again and again. I really did enjoy watching this event and should stop judging books (fight cards) by their cover (lack of big names).

Fight of the Night: Brad Pickett vs. Renan Barão
Knockout of the Night: Che Mills
Submission of the Night: Terry Etim
